The Final Countdown

Six days left!

There are only six days left until Extra Life 2013! If you haven't yet, please hit my page, make a donation and tell your friends! Big thanks to my Dad, Megan Curtis and Yann and Erica Folange for making donations! You guys really got ahead of it and already put my donation total ahead of over half of the people signed up for Extra Life 2013!

With that out of the way I've got a ton of good news!

1. I'm partnering up with my good friend Tim Fox! When we were both stationed in Japan we would spend entire weekends playing games in his Barracks room and we've been getting together some multi-player goodness to make some of the stretches a little easier. You can also watch him teach me to speed run Gunpoint live! It's his specialty and I've never played it before. So it should be a great time.

2. Some of you are local and really want to watch me torture myself but you're planning on going to Nekocon on Saturday, November 2nd. Now you won't have to decide between the two! I'd like to just say a huge thank you to the staff of Nekocon's first Pokemon Gym Leader Challenge for volunteering to stream me live during the convention. They'll also be doing their own raffles for on-site donations and are providing some exclusives from their event to give away during the marathon.

3. The great folks at SquidGrip donated a few discount codes to give away on the big day! I bought a set for my PS3 and really can't recommend their product enough. Follow them on twitter, they do giveaways pretty regularly!

Streaming tests have been a smashing success! I've tested it with Hearthstone and it streamed great on max settings. Expect to see some live arena matches! I've also got a PS3 controller successfully paired with the computer we're going to use and it plays like a dream.

Donation Incentives 1-1

This is my first crack at making Perler Beadsprites. We'll be randomly choosing donors every hour during the stream and contacting you so I can send you your own Extra Life as a thank you! You do -not- have to be present to win a random donor gift. I will be making several separate "Stream Viewer Only" prizes as a way to say thank you for those of you choosing to spend your weekend sticking it out with me live. We will have photos of all of them as I complete them.

This is a first draft, pre-iron run. I'm pleased with how they look and this is just fun enough that I might continue doing it in the future. Enjoy!

Extra Life 2013

I'm on a mission to save kids and I need your help. Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, my local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. They treat thousands of children each year, from all over the region, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis and injuries from accidents to name a few. They know how important play is both as a healing tool and how necessary it is to get kids back to playing as soon as possible and that's why I've chosen to represent them in this year's Extra Life. 

On November 2nd, 2013, I'll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds! It is my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a tax-deductible monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to CHKD.

Last year, Extra Life raised more than 2 million dollars to save kids, but in 2013 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher. I'm 29 years old and I want to raise 2,900 dollars for CHKD, a hundred dollars for every healthy year of my life. It is an ambitious goal and I really can't do this without your help. 

I'll be taking the 25 hour marathon gaming session head on. 25 hours of moving to the right, jumping, and descending into madness and I want to do it all right before your eyes.
